What’s Holding You Back from Starting Your Online Business?
We’ve all been there—standing on the edge of something new and exciting but feeling stuck, unsure, and maybe even a little overwhelmed. Starting an online business sounds amazing, right? The freedom, the flexibility, the ability to work from anywhere! But when it comes time to actually get started, so many of us hit a wall. Yep. me too.
Let’s talk about what might be holding you back (what held me back) and more importantly, how to break through so you can build the life and business you deserve.
1. Fear of Failure
You might be asking yourself, “What if I try and it doesn’t work out?” Here’s the truth: failure isn’t the opposite of success, it’s a stepping stone to get there. Every mistake is a lesson.
Action Step: Start small. You don’t have to dive in headfirst. Take baby steps, like setting up a simple website or researching your niche. Progress over perfection, always.
2. Feeling Overwhelmed
With all the tools, strategies, and “gurus” out there, it’s easy to feel like you need to know everything before you start. Spoiler alert: you don’t!
Action Step: Focus on ONE thing at a time. Choose a platform, learn the basics, and execute. Trust me, action builds clarity and momentum.
3. Not Enough Time
Between work, family, and life in general, finding time to build a business can feel impossible. But here’s the thing: we all have the same 24 hours, and how we prioritize them matters.
Action Step: Block out just 30 minutes a day to work on your business. That might mean waking up earlier, saying no to something else, or even outsourcing tasks. Small, consistent steps add up to big results.
4. Doubting Your Abilities
It’s easy to look at others who are crushing it online and think, “I could never do that.” But remember, they started where you are right now, with doubts and fears of their own. Still got them. But… mindset!
Action Step: Shift your mindset. Write down your strengths and skills. Remind yourself why you want this. And don’t be afraid to invest in learning – skills can always be developed.
5. Waiting for the ‘Perfect Time’
Let me tell you something: there’s no such thing as the perfect time. I wasted so much time waiting for the “perfect time”. Life will always be busy, and there will always be obstacles. The perfect time is NOW.
