I Thought I Had to Have It All Figured Out… Then I Let Go of the Map

For years, I clung to “the plan.”
The spreadsheet.
The 5-year vision board.
The version of success that looked just right on paper.

I thought clarity came from control.
I thought peace came from predictability.
I thought confidence came from knowing exactly where I was going.

Spoiler alert: they didn’t.

The more I tried to nail it down, the more life kept rerouting me.

Plot twists.
Doors that slammed.
Opportunities that didn’t look like opportunities, until I stopped trying to make them fit the damn map.

So one day, I did the wild thing.
I stopped pretending I knew exactly where I was going.
I gave myself permission to not have it all figured out.

And the weirdest thing happened:

I didn’t fall apart.
I didn’t lose myself.
I actually found a version of myself I’d been avoiding.

Turns out, not having the answers doesn’t make you lost.
It makes you honest.
Present.
Available for the kind of magic that can’t be planned in bullet points.

So if you’re gripping the map, white-knuckled and exhausted… maybe try this:

Put it down.
Breathe.
Trust that clarity can come after the leap.
Not before.

You don’t need the whole path. Just the next right step.

And maybe a little faith in who you’re becoming.
